3infun attractions — what’s happening this autumn?
Posted by threesides on Tuesday, March 15th, 2011The weather’s getting cooler, the days are getting shorter, and the three attractions of the 3infun super ticket — the Australian Institute of Sport, Cockington Green and Questacon — have got plenty in store to make sure you have a great time in Canberra this autumn.
The leaves are starting to turn at Cockington Green, a delightful and fascinating display of meticulously crafted miniature buildings set within beautifully landscaped gardens. Wander through the tiny villages and castles, marvel at the fascinating international display, and enjoy the crisp autumn air with a ride on the Miniature Steam Train.
When it comes to Questacon—The National Science and Technology Centre, no visit is complete without watching (and participating in!) a presentation by the theatre troupe The Excited Particles. You’ll learn about dinosaurs, tsunamis, explosions, balloons… performed from a repertoire of more than a dozen shows. Shows are presented at various times on most days.
And for a different kind of show, take a trip to the Australian Institute of Sport where you can see gymnasts, swimmers, volleyball players and other elite athletes in action as part of their behind the scenes athlete-guided tours.

3infun attractions — what’s happening this summer?

Don’t miss your chance to see H2O—Soak Up the Science, Questacon’s new permanent exhibition about water, with 16 interactive exhibits about how water behaves, how it shapes our world and how we use this precious resource.
Get hands on and boil water, launch a hydrogen rocket, pump water towards the ceiling, reveal how much water is used to manufacture food and clothing or design a water-efficient city.
For water activities of a different kind, you can see swimmers and other elite athletes in action at the AIS as part of their behind the scenes athlete-guided tours.
You can also see sportspeople in miniature, along with miniature houses, castles, embassies and more at Cockington Green, a delightful and fascinating display of meticulously crafted miniature buildings set within beautifully landscaped gardens.
